Now Playing

Whatever’s playing.
One glance away.

PeakPad shows and controls your music right in the notch. A big cover, the source, a live equalizer and the controls you expect. It works with Spotify, Apple Music and other apps that report to macOS, such as YouTube in a browser.

What it does.

Works with what you use

PeakPad reads the system’s Now Playing information, so it follows Spotify, Apple Music and browser players without setup.

A pill in the closed notch

While music plays, the closed notch widens a little: the cover sits in the left corner and a small white equalizer moves on the right.

Synced lyrics, opt-in

Turn on time-synced lyrics and PeakPad fetches them from LRCLIB. It’s off until you choose it.

Good to know.

  • Controls include play and pause, previous and next, and seeking in the progress bar.
  • Lyrics are opt-in. When on, PeakPad sends only the song’s title, artist, album and length to lrclib.net, and nothing else.
  • It works on Macs without a notch too: PeakPad draws its own at the top of the screen.
  • The player sits on the Home tab beside Today and Reminders, with volume and brightness sliders below.

Questions.

Which players work?

Spotify, Apple Music and other apps that report to macOS Now Playing, such as YouTube in a browser.

Are lyrics sent anywhere?

Only if you turn them on. Then the song’s title, artist, album and length go to lrclib.net to find the lyrics, and nothing else is sent.

Does it work without a notch?

Yes. On any Mac or external display PeakPad draws its own notch at the top of the screen.
